Do we see things as we are?

I sat on the solitary stone bench
without feeling its cold hardness.
Is this what happens when one gets
so involved with one’s own self?
That nothing around seems to matter…

Why did I not want to see the
solitary red blossom as it smiled at me,
to hear the bird as it sang its melody
and feel the gentle wind as it brushed past me
trying their best to bring me back to
the present…

Maybe it was one of those moments
where I wanted to retreat into my
own little protected space
where nothing exists but me
and my emotional madness...

Thank God it is temporary!

We need to go into our shells every so often, to ask where we are going. But sometimes, the leaving causes us to miss the beauty and ugliness around us. Both are there to teach us something. It's exhausting to be present all the time, but I guess we evolve the most when we are there, and aware.

I have had these moments Jyo! Very eloquently expressed.

Don't pause to take a look back...you are leaving a trail of stars for us to pick.

Very recognizable.

How you need to know happiness before you can see the small things.

How to stay healthy it's better not to think too much about oneself.

I remember how at times I was the most curious person around, always asking questions, but then for a little while I lost all interest in other people around me. They were friendly to me, but I didn't want to get to know them better. Luckily these times are long gone now.

lovely post...something inside has to accompany us in moments...as a sufi poet once said...Jab paas tum nahin tho bahaaron ka kya karoon...
dil hi nahin tho dil ke saharon ka kya karoon...
